Blairsville Man Arrested By GBI After Assault Leaves Victim Critically Injured
Blairsville, Georgia – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested 56-year-old Charles Bennett of Blairsville on one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Aggravated Battery following a violent incident in Union County.
Around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Pleasant Hill Road after receiving a report of an assault. When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from severe injuries. The victim was airlifted to a trauma center, where he remains in critical condition.
Bennett, who was still at the scene, was taken into custody and later transported to a local hospital for treatment. Once released, he will be booked into the Union County Detention Center.
Investigators say additional charges are expected as the case develops. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
