Armed Standoff in Sandy Springs Ends with Suspect in Custody

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. – A suspect is in custody after a two-hour standoff with police Tuesday morning that began when officers came under gunfire at a home on Carroll Manor Drive.

Around 11:19 a.m. on October 14, Sandy Springs Police officers responded to reports of gunfire inside a residence. When officers arrived and attempted to make contact with the individual inside, the suspect opened fire, striking one officer with a bullet graze.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside a room within the home. The Sandy Springs Police SWAT team responded and took control of the scene. After roughly two hours, the suspect surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without further incident.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist with the ongoing investigation.
