Richmond County Deputies Investigating Homicide Behind Chevron Gas Station
Wanted: Jeffrey Taiwan Eutsay

AUGUSTA, Ga. – On Tuesday, October 7th, around 2:04 p.m., deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Augusta University Police responded to a report of a suspicious situation behind the Chevron Gas Station at 1501 Laney Walker Boulevard, near the intersection of 15th Street.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased unhoused individual behind the business. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division and Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene and begin a full investigation.

Because of the location’s proximity to nearby campuses, Augusta University Police and Paine College Police were on scene to assist and ensure the safety of students. Augusta University Police also provided useful information to investigators and continue to assist with the case.

The incident has since been upgraded to a murder investigation. Deputies are now searching for 43-year-old Jeffrey Taiwan Eutsay, who is wanted for murder. Eutsay, who is also believed to be unhoused, is described as a Black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing around 195 pounds.

Sheriff Gino Brantley emphasized the department’s commitment to protecting all residents, including those without housing. “Our unhoused population remains an important part of our community, and our deputies within the Homeless Outreach Team work closely with them to ensure their safety and well-being just as we do for all residents,” Brantley said. “Every life matters, and our commitment is to protect and serve every individual in Richmond County. We want to thank the Augusta University Police Department for their partnership and quick response in assisting our investigators today. Their collaboration helps us keep both our students and the community safe.”

Anyone with information about Eutsay’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020, message the department through its social media pages, or submit a tip via its website.

If you see Eutsay or know his current location, call 911 immediately.
