Armored Truck Guard Shot in Atlanta, Suspect Arrested After Crash

Atlanta police say an armored truck guard was shot and robbed of $50,000 Monday morning in a brazen ambush near Hammond Park.

On September 15, 2025, around 9:09 a.m., officers responded to 2685 Metropolitan Parkway after reports of an aggravated assault. They found a male victim, the truck’s guard, with a graze wound to his head. He was alert, conscious, and transported to a hospital for treatment.

According to investigators, a male suspect ambushed the guard as he operated the armored vehicle, opened fire, and fled the scene in a Honda with a stolen money bag containing $50,000 in cash.

Police issued a BOLO for the suspect’s car. A short time later, the vehicle was involved in a crash in Forest Park, where local police apprehended the suspect. Atlanta officers confirmed his identity at the scene.
