Teen Arrested as Adult in String of Auto Thefts and Burglaries in Columbus

MUSCOGEE COUNTY, Ga.—A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged as an adult in connection with a series of auto thefts and burglaries in Muscogee County.

On September 9, patrol officers, assisted by the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, located a stolen vehicle in the Olde Town area. Following a brief foot chase, Addison Weaver Mickens, 17, and two juveniles were taken into custody.

Mickens was initially charged with Entering Auto (Felony) x7, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property – Motor Vehicle (Felony), and Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer.

Further investigation by the Property Crimes Unit linked Mickens to more than a dozen additional cases. On September 11, investigators also arrested Zakyrion Walton, 17, who faces 16 counts of Entering Auto, clearing three cases.

Mickens now faces an additional 44 charges, including 36 counts of Entering Auto, 5 counts of Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle, and 3 counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, clearing a total of 19 cases.

More arrests are expected in connection with the ongoing investigation.
