Walker County Deputies Arrest Two in Fatal Fentanyl Overdose Case

LAFAYETTE, GA — Walker County deputies have charged two individuals in connection with the death of a Lafayette man from a fentanyl overdose.
On April 11, 2025, deputies responded to a residence in Walker County and found 31-year-old David Victor Benitez deceased. An autopsy later confirmed that Benitez died from a lethal fentanyl overdose.
Investigators determined that Benitez had recently purchased fentanyl from Christopher Vance Bell, 26, of Rock Spring, GA, and Kelly Rae Durham, 27, of Rossville, GA.
Both Bell and Durham have been charged with:
- Aggravated Involuntary Manslaughter for Fentanyl Overdose Death (Felony, O.C.G.A. 16-5-3.1)
- Sale, Distribution, or Possession of a Dangerous Drug (Felony, O.C.G.A. 16-13-72)
Bell and Durham are currently in custody at the Walker County Jail as the investigation continues.
