Man Found with Gunshot Wound in Troup County; Critical Condition

On August 11, 2025, at approximately 7:50 a.m., Troup County 911 received a call reporting an adult male found unresponsive and bleeding from the head at 196 Chipley Mountville Road. Fire and EMS personnel responded and requested the Sheriff’s Office after determining a possible crime had occurred.

The victim, identified as 47-year-old Dawendall White, was transported to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, where he was found to have a gunshot wound to the head. White remains in critical condition.

Criminal Investigations Division personnel are actively investigating the incident at both the hospital and the crime scene. Officials do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community.
