Stepson Charged with Murder in Columbus Shooting

Christopher Popp, 35, has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting on Saturday, July 5, 2025, that left his stepfather, Donnie Hand, 51, dead.

Columbus Police Officers responded to the 2800 block of Reese Road around 12:15 p.m. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Hand deceased from a gunshot wound. Deputy Coroner Ben Saxon pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The Violent Crimes Unit was called to lead the investigation and subsequently identified Popp as the suspect. He was taken into custody and charged with Murder.
