Four Flee After Forsyth County Chase; All Caught After Crash and Citizen Tip

A high-speed pursuit through Forsyth County on Thursday afternoon ended with four suspects in custody following a crash, a foot chase, and a tip from a watchful citizen.
Around 2:30 p.m., Forsyth County deputies were alerted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) about a vehicle possibly entering the county. The car’s registered owner had an active warrant for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Deputies located the vehicle on Buford Dam Road near Sanders Road and attempted to stop it near Marketplace Blvd., but the driver refused to pull over, initiating a chase. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed on Bald Ridge Acres Drive at Canon Place.
Following the crash, all four occupants fled on foot. A juvenile suspect connected to the delinquency case surrendered to deputies immediately. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Madison Moore of Flowery Branch, was apprehended shortly after.
Two male passengers fled into nearby woods. Deputies deployed K9 units and drone teams to search the area but called off the search due to extreme heat, out of concern for the safety of the K9 teams. Authorities then released surveillance images of the suspects to the public.
Around 7:20 p.m., a citizen spotted two individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions walking along Pilgrim Mill Road near the GA400 overpass. When deputies arrived, the men fled again into the woods but were captured a short time later, wet from the rain and visibly exhausted.
The suspects were identified as:
- Curtis Ashburn, 17, of Columbus, charged with two counts of Obstruction of Law Enforcement.
- Christopher Chance, 24, of Jasper, charged with two counts of Obstruction of Law Enforcement.
- Madison Moore, 24, of Flowery Branch, charged with Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, Driving on a Suspended License, and had an active warrant out of Pickens County.
- The unnamed juvenile was transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC).
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office credited community involvement and teamwork for the successful apprehension of all four individuals.
