Conyers Man Charged with Murder, Linked to Shooting with Children Present

A Conyers man, Tamorris Tyler, 33, has been arrested and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon following a fatal shooting on Friday night, June 13, 2025, that left 30-year-old Dearrious Davenport dead in the roadway. Authorities believe this homicide is linked to a subsequent shooting incident that damaged vehicles, one of which was occupied by a three-year-old and a fifteen-year-old child.
At 10:52 PM on June 13, Conyers Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a person shot at 1290 Janice Lane. Upon arrival, they found Dearrious Davenport from Conyers, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by both police and medical personnel, Mr. Davenport succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division interviewed witnesses who identified Tamorris Tyler as the suspect. Tyler had fled the scene before officers arrived, prompting an extensive six-hour manhunt in the Irwinbridge Road and Sigman Road areas. The manhunt involved the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and the Conyers Police Department’s Special Response Team, ultimately leading to Tyler’s apprehension without incident. He is currently held at the Rockdale County Jail.
The following night, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 9:42 PM, Conyers Police Officers responded to reports of weapon discharge in the Forest Villa Subdivision. Officers found several vehicles damaged by gunfire, including one occupied by a three-year-old and a fifteen-year-old child. Preliminary investigations suggest a connection between this incident and the earlier fatal shooting on Janice Lane.
