The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged three individuals in connection with a violent kidnapping and assault that spanned three counties in southeast Georgia.
Dean Tanner, 30, of Tarrytown (Treutlen County), Lauren Bailey, 43, of Vidalia (Montgomery County), and Jeff Sconyers, 51, also of Vidalia, have each been charged with Kidnapping and Aggravated Assault. The charges stem from an incident that began on May 28, 2025, in Soperton, Treutlen County.
According to the GBI, the victim reported being physically assaulted at a residence on Tarrytown Road in Soperton by the three suspects. The victim was then kidnapped and transported to a home on Pine Street in Vidalia, Toombs County, where he was again assaulted until he lost consciousness. The suspects reportedly accused the victim of stealing from a warehouse owned by Bailey and searched for the alleged stolen items while continuing the assault.
After the search, Tanner, Bailey, and Sconyers drove the victim to a remote wooded area in Ailey, Montgomery County, where they sexually assaulted him.
The suspects were arrested on May 29, 2025, in Montgomery County and booked into the Treutlen County Jail. Additional charges are expected for offenses committed in Toombs and Montgomery counties.
The investigation remains active. Upon completion, the case will be submitted to the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, and the Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
