Monroe Couple Shot During Armed Robbery; Husband Dead, Wife Critical

A Monroe couple was shot during an armed robbery at their residence in the 200 block of Douglas Street early Saturday morning.
At approximately 5:36 a.m. on April 19, 2025, Monroe Police Department officers responded to a report of an armed robbery and shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered two gunshot victims.
The complainant, 30-year-old Jennifer Hicks of Monroe, reported that she and her husband had been shot. Mrs. Hicks was airlifted to an Atlanta-area hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Tragically, her husband, 27-year-old Jeremiah Hicks of Monroe, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Monroe Police Department is actively investigating this incident and urges anyone with information, including those who may have seen or heard anything unusual, have video footage, or have heard anything through the community, to come forward.
