Man Wanted for Murder Shot by Deputy During U.S. Marshals Warrant Execution in Decatur

A man wanted for murder was shot by a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy on Thursday afternoon as U.S. Marshals attempted to execute an arrest warrant in Decatur.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), 34-year-old Marquiece Beadle of Decatur was shot after pulling a handgun while fleeing from law enforcement. The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. in the 5800 block of Covington Highway.

The U.S. Marshals Service was attempting to arrest Beadle, who had active warrants from the Chamblee Police Department for murder and the sale of a controlled substance. As officers approached the residence, Beadle ran from the apartment and encountered a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy. When Beadle pulled a firearm, the deputy fired, striking him.

Beadle was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No officers were injured during the incident.

The GBI is conducting an independent investigation. Once completed, the case will be turned over to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
