Inmate Stabbed to Death at Macon Prison

A Putnam County inmate, Leon Kelly, was fatally stabbed at Central State Prison on Monday, December 9th.

Kelly was serving a 10-year sentence for the distribution of methamphetamine in Putnam County.

According to reports, Kelly sustained multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m. by the coroner.

The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the incident through its Office of Professional Standards, as per standard procedure.

The GDC stated that further details are not currently available due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
