Lookout Mountain District Attorney Returns from Military Deployment in Middle East

District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit has returned to his role after a six-month military deployment with the United States Air Force. From May 3 to October 30, 2024, DA Fuller served as a legal advisor to military operations in the Middle East, supporting U.S. Central Command. His deployment included time at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina.

During his absence, Chief Assistant District Attorney Kevin Baugh acted as the Designated Acting District Attorney, ensuring continuity in the office’s operations. “I cannot thank Kevin and the team enough for the incredible work they did while I was gone keeping the community safe and supporting our law enforcement partners,” said DA Fuller. “I missed my family and the DA’s office team, but it was an honor to serve my country and support our efforts to stabilize the Middle East during historic uncertainty and conflict in the region.”

A 14-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Georgia Air National Guard, DA Fuller was promoted to lieutenant colonel during his deployment. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal for his efforts. Fuller’s career includes prior service in the White House and the Pentagon, where he received the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Award for Outstanding Achievement for his work in counterterrorism.
