Stolen Sandersville City Vehicle Leads to Multi-County Pursuit and Arrest

On Monday, November 25, at approximately 9 a.m., Washington County 911 received a report of a stolen City of Sandersville Public Works vehicle from an area on MLK Drive. A lookout was issued to local law enforcement.

A Washington County deputy spotted the vehicle traveling west on Highway 540 toward Baldwin County and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Jerrell D. Walker of Tennille, refused to stop, prompting a pursuit that crossed into Baldwin and Wilkinson counties.

The Georgia State Patrol took over the chase and successfully ended it using a PIT maneuver. Walker was taken into custody without incident.

Walker faces multiple charges, including:

  • Felony Theft by Taking of a Motor Vehicle
  • Felony Fleeing to Elude
  • Reckless Driving
  • DUI Refusal
  • Numerous additional traffic offenses.

Several agencies assisted in the pursuit and apprehension. Law enforcement expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts that led to the swift resolution of the incident.
