Vehicle Fire Leads to Arrests in Reynolds After Driver Flees Scene

On October 4, 2024, a vehicle was found fully engulfed in flames on Highway 96. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle in the roadway. During the investigation, authorities uncovered information inside the vehicle that helped identify the owner and the driver.

The vehicle owner was identified as 32-year-old Jami Jordan, a Black female from Macon, Georgia, and the driver was confirmed to be 42-year-old James Jackson, also of Macon. Investigators revealed that Jackson was operating the vehicle when it caught fire due to defective equipment. Fearing arrest, he fled the scene. Jordan was found to have provided false information to police regarding the incident.

Jordan was charged with obstruction and suspended registration, while Jackson faced charges for failing to report the accident, defective equipment, stopping in the roadway, and suspended registration.

Reynolds Police Chief Holder expressed gratitude to the Reynolds Fire Department for their swift response and to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the case.
