South Fulton Police Awarded 0K Grant to Target Speeding and Impaired Driving

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has announced that the South Fulton Police Department is one of 26 law enforcement agencies in Georgia awarded a Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) grant for the Federal 2025 Fiscal Year. The department will receive $280,676 to enhance efforts aimed at reducing crashes, injuries, and fatalities caused by impaired driving and speeding.

The H.E.A.T. program focuses on preventing aggressive driving behaviors, increasing seatbelt use, and educating the public on traffic safety. With the grant, South Fulton’s H.E.A.T. Unit will implement strategies to reduce local traffic incidents linked to dangerous driving.

“This grant will allow us to enhance our efforts in making our roads safer by reducing dangerous driving behaviors and taking impaired drivers off the streets,” said Chief Keith Meadows.

Allen Poole, Director of GOHS, emphasized the importance of traffic law enforcement in reducing crashes and saving lives. “GOHS will continue to partner with law enforcement to protect everyone on our roads and work towards zero traffic deaths in Georgia and across the nation.”

South Fulton Police will also participate in statewide DUI and seatbelt campaigns, including “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket.”
