Douglas Woman Arrested for Plot to Hire Hitman to Kill Husband

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested 48-year-old Brandi Steverson of Douglas, GA, on charges of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

The investigation began after a concerned citizen reported to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office on September 5, 2024, that Steverson had inquired about hiring a hitman to kill her husband. GBI agents launched an undercover operation, which culminated in Steverson making an initial payment to an undercover agent, with a promise to pay more after the murder. Steverson was arrested and booked into the Coffee County Jail.

The Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office and Fitzgerald Police Department assisted in the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
