LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A Lawrenceville man has been arrested after police say he threatened to have a bomb and a handgun during an attempted robbery at a commercial business.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, officers responded Wednesday, July 1, to a reported bomb threat at a business near the 2000 block of Lawrenceville Highway.

After arriving, officers spoke with the victim and determined the incident was an attempted armed robbery.

Investigators said a masked man entered the business and threatened the victim by claiming he had both a bomb and a handgun while demanding cash.

The suspect ultimately fled without obtaining any money.

Police reviewed surveillance footage and discovered the same individual had entered the business minutes earlier without a mask in an attempt to cash a fraudulent check. After that attempt failed, he left before returning disguised for the robbery attempt.

Using the surveillance footage, investigators identified the suspect as 29-year-old Jordan Micah McLain and identified the vehicle believed to have been used during the incident.

Officers later located the vehicle near Seaboard Industrial Boulevard using multiple investigative resources.

The vehicle was stopped, and McLain was taken into custody without incident.

McLain has been charged with:

  • Terroristic Threats and Acts
  • Forgery in the Third Degree
  • Robbery by Intimidation
  • Wearing a Mask to Conceal Identity

He remains in custody at the Gwinnett County Jail.
