Repeat Drug Offender Arrested With Crack Cocaine Near Cartersville Housing Project
CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — A drug investigation launched after community complaints led to the arrest of a man accused of distributing crack cocaine near a housing project in Cartersville, according to the Cartersville Police Department.
Police said residents reported suspected drug activity at an apartment located at 103 Jones Street, Apartment 4, prompting investigators to open an investigation.
During the investigation, detectives determined that 64-year-old Paul Campbell was allegedly using the apartment to distribute crack cocaine within the city. Investigators also determined the alleged drug activity occurred within 1,000 feet of a housing project, resulting in enhanced criminal charges.
Authorities noted that Campbell does not reside in Bartow County.
Police arrested Campbell following the investigation and reported finding approximately one-half ounce of crack cocaine in his possession at the time of his arrest.
According to the Cartersville Police Department, Campbell has previously been arrested multiple times by the agency on felony drug charges.
Campbell was charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute Within 1,000 Feet of a Housing Project.
Police credited information provided by local residents for helping initiate the investigation.
The Cartersville Police Department said it remains committed to addressing illegal drug activity and encouraging community members to report suspicious behavior.
The investigation remains ongoing.
