Gwinnet County Officer Disarms Own Taser During Wooded Fight with Fleeing Drive
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A fleeing driver who held a passenger against her will and nearly ran her over faces 11 new charges after a violent struggle with a Gwinnett County police officer in a wooded area.
Edward Briones Revolorio was arrested following the April 7, 2026, incident. At the time of his apprehension, authorities discovered he was already a wanted fugitive with nine active, outstanding arrest warrants.
Pursuit Escalates at Cul-de-Sac
The incident began when Gwinnett County Police Officer L. Shorr attempted to execute a routine traffic stop on a vehicle displaying an unreadable temporary tag. The driver, later identified as Briones Revolorio, refused to yield and initiated a pursuit.
During the chase, Officer Shorr observed erratic movements inside the cabin, raising concerns that the driver was either heavily impaired or actively engaged in a physical altercation with an occupant.
The pursuit reached a critical point when Briones Revolorio drove into a dead-end cul-de-sac. A female passenger opened the door and attempted to flee the moving vehicle, screaming “no” and “stop.” Investigators state that Briones Revolorio repeatedly grabbed the woman and pulled her back into the car. When she finally managed to break free and fall from the vehicle, Briones Revolorio accelerated, nearly running her over as he attempted to escape.
Foot Chase and Struggle Over Taser
Believing the female passenger was being held hostage and faced an immediate threat to her life, Officer Shorr used his patrol vehicle to forcibly disable Briones Revolorio’s car.
Briones Revolorio abandoned the disabled vehicle and fled on foot into a heavily wooded area, with Officer Shorr pursuing close behind. Officer Shorr attempted to fire his Taser to stop the suspect, but the thick brush and heavy foliage rendered the deployment ineffective.
Upon catching up to the suspect, a violent physical struggle ensued. Officer Shorr attempted to use a “drive-stun” maneuver to gain compliance, but Briones Revolorio grabbed the weapon, and the two began fighting for control of the Taser.
Thinking quickly, Officer Shorr managed to eject the battery pack from the Taser and threw it into the brush, ensuring the suspect could not weaponize the device against him. While maintaining physical control of Briones Revolorio, Officer Shorr successfully transmitted his location coordinates to emergency dispatchers. Responding backup units arrived moments later and placed the suspect in handcuffs.
Briones Revolorio was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail. Following the incident, Officer Shorr secured 11 additional warrants against him, including charges related to fleeing, domestic violence, and felony obstruction of law enforcement.
