Coffee County Man Charged With Meth Trafficking After Drug Unit Seizes More Than Six Ounces of Suspected Meth

COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. — A Douglas man was arrested following a drug investigation that resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine, illegal THC products, and cash, according to the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit.

Preston Pernell Fields, 53, of Douglas, was taken into custody on May 27, 2026, after agents encountered him during a law enforcement operation in Coffee County.

According to investigators, agents detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle Fields was operating. A subsequent investigation and search led to the discovery of approximately 6.38 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, THC gummy products, and $1,823.58 in cash believed to be connected to illegal drug activity.

Fields was arrested without incident and transported to the Coffee County Jail.

He has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine and additional drug-related violations under the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.

Authorities said the investigation remains active and additional charges could be filed pending laboratory testing and further review of the evidence.

The Douglas Coffee Drug Unit said it will continue targeting the distribution of illegal narcotics and pursuing individuals involved in drug trafficking throughout Coffee County.
