Police Seek Suspects in $300K Fraud Scheme Targeting Hogansville Victim, Sketch Released
HOGANSVILLE, Ga. — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying suspects involved in a large-scale fraud scheme that has cost a victim more than $300,000.
According to the Hogansville Police Department, the investigation centers on multiple incidents in which suspects impersonated federal officials to gain the victim’s trust and obtain large sums of cash.

In one incident on Feb. 26, 2026, an unidentified male suspect met the victim within the city limits of Hogansville and collected $60,000 in cash.
Investigators said the suspect appeared to conduct counter-surveillance before the exchange, checking the area for law enforcement presence prior to approaching the victim.
Authorities determined the suspect is part of a group of three to four individuals who have collectively taken more than $300,000 from the victim across multiple encounters.
Police said the suspects used fraudulent federal warrant documents to make their scheme appear legitimate.
During the Feb. 26 exchange, a second vehicle remained nearby and appeared to monitor the situation. After the transaction was completed and the victim left, the second vehicle also departed.
Investigators have released a sketch of one of the suspects, identified as “suspect #3,” created by a forensic artist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Authorities also released images of vehicles believed to be involved.
The case remains under investigation.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information is asked to contact Sgt. Detective Williams at swilliams@hogansvillepd.com or 706-637-6648.
