Bibb County Deputy Fired, Arrested After Internal Investigation Into Use of Force
MACON, Ga. — A Bibb County deputy has been terminated and arrested following an internal investigation into an incident involving use of force during an arrest.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Meshaun Gibson, who was assigned to the Patrol Division at the time, was charged with simple battery.
The investigation stemmed from an incident on April 3, 2026, at a residence in the 3600 block of Riverside Drive.
Officials said it was reported that Gibson struck a male in the face while attempting to make an arrest. An internal review later determined the individual was compliant at the time he was struck.
Following the findings, Gibson’s employment with the sheriff’s office was terminated Thursday afternoon by Chief Deputy Chris Patterson.
Authorities said Gibson later turned herself in at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center Thursday night in connection with the charge.
She has since been released on bond.
The case remains under review.
