Rome Police Seek Public’s Help After Fatal Shooting Near Family Dollar

UPDATE: The victim in this shooting was identified as 22-year-old Chancellore Jabez Donaldson,. The Rome Police Department has secured a Felony Murder warrant for 25-year-old Chancelor Lamar Crawford for his involvement in the death. Crawford is currently at-large. They believe he could be in Northwest Georgia or the Metro Atlanta area. Anyone who has seen Crawford, knows where he may be staying, or has information about his location is urged to contact authorities immediately.

He should be considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach or attempt to confront him.

ROME, Ga. — Police are asking for the public’s help after a fatal shooting early Sunday near a Family Dollar on North Broad Street.

Responding officers and emergency personnel found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound after the shooting on April 19, 2026, according to the Rome Police Department.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.

Investigators said they believe numerous people were in the area at the time of the shooting and are urging witnesses to come forward.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area, has photos or video, or has information about what happened to contact authorities immediately.

The Rome Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to investigate.
