Fentanyl Bust in Douglas Leads to Arrest, Thousands of Potentially Lethal Doses Seized
DOUGLAS, Ga. — A months-long drug investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Douglas woman and the seizure of a significant amount of fentanyl, according to local authorities.

On April 15, 2026, agents with the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit, along with the D.I.C.E. Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Winterset Circle.
Authorities said 48-year-old Amy Marie Peterson was taken into custody without incident. During the search, agents recovered approximately 35 grams of fentanyl.
Officials noted the amount seized is considered highly dangerous due to the drug’s potency. Investigators said the quantity equates to tens of thousands of potentially lethal doses and far exceeds what would be considered personal use.
Peterson has been charged with trafficking a Schedule II controlled substance under Georgia law.
Law enforcement officials said recent legislative changes have lowered the threshold for fentanyl trafficking charges, with possession of four grams or more qualifying as trafficking and higher amounts carrying significant mandatory prison sentences.
Authorities emphasized the ongoing efforts to combat fentanyl distribution, citing the drug’s connection to overdose deaths and its impact on communities.
The investigation remains ongoing.
