Savannah Carjacking Suspect Caught After Dramatic Foot Chase
SAVANNAH, GA – The Savannah Police Department has arrested 41-year-old Donald Palmer Jr. in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Monday, December 22nd, in the 1300 block of W. Bay Street.
Officers responded to the scene at 4:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a business robbery. The adult female victim told police that a man had pointed a gun at her and taken her vehicle. Officers canvassed the area and spotted the stolen vehicle traveling north on Bullock Street across W. Victory Drive.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle became disabled at W. 38th Street and Bullock Street after striking a curb. Palmer fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers. A weapon was also recovered during the arrest.
Palmer has been charged with hijacking of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, and interference with government property.
