Christmas Day Shooting in Quitman Leaves One Dead, One Injured; Investigation Ongoing
QUITMAN, Ga – On December 25, 2025, Quitman Police responded to a shooting in the 120 block of N. Culpepper Street. The incident occurred after an argument broke out between two groups, involving multiple individuals.
During the altercation, 35-year-old Raymond McCullar of Valdosta, GA, was shot and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. A woman was also injured and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
McCullar’s body will undergo an autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab. No arrests have been made at this time.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Quitman Police Department with the ongoing investigation. Once completed, the case file will be turned over to the Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
