Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation After Mental Health Call in Gwinnett County

Gwinnett County Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon during a mental health response at a residence on Lockridge Drive.

Shortly before 1:40 p.m. on December 18, 2025, officers were requested to assist members of the State Mobile Crisis Team from Behavioral Health Link at a home in the 6700 block of Lockridge Drive in Peachtree Corners, GA. The call involved a mental health–related incident, and officers responded to provide support while clinicians evaluated the situation.

Upon arrival, officers met with the Mobile Crisis Team and made contact with a resident outside the home. After assessing the situation, clinicians determined the individual needed to be transported to a hospital for further evaluation. According to police, the individual then went back inside the residence and shortly afterward reappeared armed with a knife.

Officers issued multiple verbal commands for the individual to stop, but those commands were not followed. Police say the individual charged toward an officer while raising the knife, prompting the officer to fire their county-issued firearm. The individual was struck during the encounter.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were already on scene and immediately provided medical aid. The individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities report the individual is alive, though their current condition has not been released.

As is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will lead the investigation and is expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.
