Multiple Arrests in Coffee County During Drug and Warrant Enforcement Operations

Coffee County, GA – Tuesday night was a busy evening for local law enforcement as multiple arrests were made by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies, the Drug Interdiction and Criminal Enforcement Unit (DICE), and the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit (DCDU). Charges ranged from outstanding warrants to drug and firearm offenses.

The evening began with a traffic stop on 30-year-old Antion Dwayne Byrd Jr. of Douglas. Byrd fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and now faces charges of Fleeing and Eluding.

Later, 21-year-old Chance Spires was stopped by Patrol Deputies. Due to circumstances observed during the stop, DCDU agents were called to the scene. Officers recovered a stolen AK-47 rifle and roughly two ounces of marijuana. Spires was arrested and faces charges of Possession of a Schedule I Drug with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Stolen Firearm, a felony under Georgia law.

DICE Agents conducted a separate stop on 41-year-old Brandy McCurry, leading to the discovery of methamphetamine in the vehicle. McCurry was arrested and charged with possession. Similarly, 51-year-old John Hursey was stopped and searched in accordance with probation conditions, resulting in the recovery of methamphetamine and subsequent arrest.

Later, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person on Parkway Road. The individual, 25-year-old Dalton Leon Lauramore, was identified as a fugitive from Florida and taken into custody.

In the early morning hours, residents at the Econolodge reported a suspect attempting to steal property. DCDU agents located 47-year-old Brian Fuller, who was in possession of methamphetamine and arrested on drug charges.

Sheriff Cole emphasized his ongoing commitment to eradicating crime and illegal drugs from the county, stating, “Whatever you do for work after this long Thanksgiving break, do it wholeheartedly… Unless you’re a drug dealer in this county—then I’d suggest calling a moving company.”

The coordinated efforts highlight continued enforcement measures targeting narcotics, stolen firearms, and fugitives in Coffee County.
