CHATHAM COUNTY, GA — The Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday at a Wilmington Island apartment.
Around 5:00 p.m. on October 27, 2025, officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 100 block of Oyster Shell Road after a 59-year-old woman was found deceased inside. Preliminary information indicates the woman died from stab wounds, with an autopsy scheduled to confirm the cause of death.
Detectives quickly identified the victim’s son, 37-year-old Addison Martinez, as a person of interest. Martinez was believed to be driving his mother’s vehicle, which was later found abandoned in a commercial parking lot in Pooler.
Authorities, concerned that another family member could be at risk, conducted an operation in the Highlands area with assistance from the Savannah Police Department SWAT Team. The family member is reported safe.
Martinez is described as 5’7”, extremely thin, with long black hair and a beard, though it is possible the beard has since been shaved. He may be wearing clothes that are noticeably too large for him, possibly including a hoodie. Police say he has a history of severe mental health issues, violent tendencies, and has not been taking his medication.
Anyone with information on Martinez’s whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately. The Chatham County Police Department is leading the investigation, and information from other agencies may not be accurate at this time.
