On Monday, October 27, 2025, following an extensive investigation into illegal drug distribution and related criminal activity, the Brunswick Police Department executed search warrants at residences in the 1700 block of Amherst Street and the 1900 block of Wolfe Street.

The coordinated operation was led by the department’s METRO Narcotics Enforcement Team with assistance from the State of Georgia SWAT Team, the Brunswick Police SWAT Team, and other officers. The searches resulted in the arrests of Jonathan Ruff, 30, and Daryl Brown, 38, both of Brunswick.

Ruff was taken into custody on numerous outstanding warrants, including sale of methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine (four counts), use of a communication device in the commission of a crime (five counts), driving on a suspended license, fleeing and eluding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, and false imprisonment. He also faces a new charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Brown was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Both Ruff and Brown were additionally charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Wolfe Street on October 12, 2025. Brown faces an additional charge of false imprisonment related to that incident.

During the operation, investigators seized 12 firearms, two machetes, approximately 34.3 grams of narcotics, a 3D printer, and $2,331 in cash.

Police officials said the successful operation highlights the teamwork and dedication of local and state law enforcement. “Because of their efforts, we’ve removed dangerous drugs, weapons, and offenders from our streets,” the department stated. “We remain committed to dismantling the criminal networks that threaten the safety and well-being of our community.”
