Jones County Woman Arrested for Arson; Estranged Husband Reported Missing

JONES COUNTY, GA – A Jones County woman is facing serious charges after deputies say she intentionally set fire to her home Tuesday morning.

On September 9, Deputy Dominguez responded to a structure fire on Largo Drive and found the residence fully engulfed in flames. At the scene, he encountered Amanda Drye, who admitted to spreading accelerant and setting the house on fire.

Drye was arrested and charged with Arson in the First Degree. She remains in the Jones County Jail without bond.

In an unrelated matter, investigators have also listed Drye’s estranged husband, William Jay Drye, as a missing person. He was last seen by family members on Sunday, September 7. Authorities emphasized that his disappearance is not connected to Tuesday’s fire.

Jones County officials praised Deputy Dominguez for his quick response and credited the Jones County Fire Department and other first responders for their efforts in containing the blaze and ensuring community safety.
