Bibb County Adds New School Zone Speed Cameras

BIBB COUNTY, Ga.—The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has announced that five new school zone cameras will be activated on Wednesday, September 3, to monitor vehicle speeds.

The cameras will issue warnings for a one-month period, from September 3 through October 3. Starting on October 4, the cameras will go live and begin issuing citations. The cameras will only be operational during school hours when the lights are flashing.

The new cameras will be located at the following schools:

  • Northwoods Academy: 7:20 a.m. – 9:20 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Bruce Elementary: 7:20 a.m. – 9:20 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. – 4:20 p.m.
  • James H. Porter Elementary: 7:20 a.m. – 9:20 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. – 4:20 p.m.
  • John R. Lewis Elementary: 7:20 a.m. – 9:20 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. – 4:20 p.m.
  • Martin Luther King Elementary: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to obey the speed limits in school zones, watch for children and school buses, and allow for extra travel time due to potential traffic congestion.
