Hiker Rescued After Severe Leg Injury at Toccoa Falls

STEPHENS COUNTY, Ga. — Emergency crews rescued a hiker on the trails of Toccoa Falls Saturday morning after the individual suffered a severe leg injury.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on August 23, Stephens County 911 received a call from a hiker reporting that another person in their group had fallen and broken their leg. Firefighters from the Carnes Creek Fire Department, Shiloh Fire Department, Stephens County EMS, and sheriff’s deputies responded quickly.
Deputies navigated the trails to locate the injured hiker and coordinated with other emergency personnel for treatment. Stephens County EMS stabilized the patient on-site before extracting them to a waiting Med Unit.
The patient was transported to a nearby trauma center and is expected to make a full recovery.
