High-Speed Chase in Jones County Ends With Arrest of Ellenwood Woman

JONES COUNTY, Ga. — A woman with multiple active warrants was taken into custody following a high-speed chase on August 12, 2025, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Walker attempted a traffic stop on Demetric Bazi of Ellenwood, Georgia, after confirming she had several outstanding warrants. Bazi initially stopped but fled once the warrants were verified.
During the pursuit, deputies reported speeds reaching 140 mph. Despite the reckless driving, Bazi was observed using her blinker and moving over for another vehicle while fleeing.
The chase ended when Sgt. Walker executed a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver) to disable the vehicle. Bazi attempted to flee on foot toward a wooded area but was quickly apprehended after being tased.
Bazi faces charges of fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, obstruction, along with four outstanding warrants.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the situation was safely resolved following the pursuit.
