AUGUSTA, Ga. — Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced that five individuals have been indicted in connection with the May 22, 2025, shooting death of 28-year-old Kameron Mason, the Property Manager of the MacArthur Park Apartments in Augusta.

Authorities allege the shooting occurred after Mason confronted the defendants for attempting to access the apartment complex pool after hours. An argument followed, during which two suspects allegedly fired multiple rounds, fatally striking Mason.

According to the indictment, all five defendants are members of the street gang Extort Anybody (EA), which has close ties to Loyalty Over Everything (LOE). Carr’s Gang Prosecution Unit previously worked with Richmond County authorities to indict 30 suspected LOE members on 333 charges in connection with violent crimes, including the 2022 shooting death of eight-year-old Arbrie Anthony.

On August 12, 2025, the Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit presented evidence to a Richmond County Grand Jury, resulting in indictments against the following:

  • Cam’ron Barber Harris, 20, of Augusta: Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Cruelty to Children, Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Criminal Damage to Property.
  • Tyler Preston, 21, of Augusta: Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Cruelty to Children, Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Criminal Damage to Property.
  • Christopher Morton, 19, of Augusta: Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of a Firearm by a First Offender Probationer.
  • Zmerr Dent, 18, of Augusta: Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, Tampering with Evidence, and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute.
  • Jamontae Douglas, 18, of Augusta: Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and Tampering with Evidence.

Attorney General Carr said Mason was “an innocent individual who was simply doing his job” and vowed to prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.

Richmond County Sheriff Eugene Brantley also praised the joint investigation, saying, “By working together and leveraging every available resource, we are sending a clear message that gang violence will not be tolerated.”

The case remains under investigation by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit. Check out more Augusta news.
