Reward Offered for Information in 2016 Athens Homicide of Daniel Macias

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is seeking public assistance in the ongoing investigation into the homicide of Daniel Macias, 28, of Athens, Georgia. Macias was fatally shot on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at approximately 2:38 a.m. at the intersection of Hancock Avenue and Jackson Street in downtown Athens.
Authorities identified a person of interest last seen at 2:35 a.m. walking on Hancock Avenue near the courthouse parking deck. Detectives are eager to identify and speak with this individual and ask anyone with information about their identity or whereabouts to come forward.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. The Macias family has added an additional reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
