Three Arrested After Glynn County Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Crash, Firearm and Narcotics Recovered

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — Three people were arrested Friday, August 9, after a Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) traffic stop escalated into a multi-mile pursuit, ending in a crash and the recovery of a firearm and narcotics.

According to GCPD, Officer Jones attempted to stop a vehicle exiting I-95 at Spur 25. The driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit through multiple areas of Glynn County. During the chase, a male passenger in the back seat was seen throwing a handgun from the vehicle in the College Park subdivision. Officers quickly recovered the discarded firearm.

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) joined the pursuit and took over as lead agency. A GSP trooper executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver on the fleeing vehicle. Although the driver temporarily regained control, she lost it again while attempting to turn right onto Glyndale Drive from GA 27, causing the vehicle to slide off the roadway and strike a Georgia Power traffic light support pole.

All three occupants were arrested at the scene. The driver, identified as Zhonae Scott, faces multiple charges related to fleeing and traffic violations. The male passenger, Harrison Gibbons — a convicted felon — was charged with multiple firearms violations. A second passenger, Alyssa Gonzalez, was charged with possession of Schedule II narcotics.

Georgia Power crews responded to assess damage to the utility pole and secure a low-hanging power line.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Glynn County Police Department Non-Emergency line at (912) 554-3645 or submit tips anonymously through Silent Witness at (912) 264-1333.
