Barnesville Man Shot on Railroad Street; Suspect in Custody After Turning Himself In

On Saturday, June 29, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers with the Barnesville Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Railroad Street. Upon arrival, officers located 30-year-old Quintavious Searcy suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg following an altercation.
The suspected shooter, identified as 21-year-old Jhontazz Googins, turned himself in to authorities without incident. He is currently being held at the Lamar County Detention Center, with warrants pending.
Searcy was treated at the scene before being transported for further medical care. Airlife helicopter, Ameripro Ambulance Service, the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, City of Barnesville, and Lamar County Fire and Rescue all assisted in the emergency response.
The investigation is ongoing.
