Brunswick Man Arrested for Felony Terroristic Threats to Law Enforcement and Military

The Glynn County Police Department arrested Brent Ashburn, 33, of Brunswick, on June 19, following an investigation into a series of serious threats made against law enforcement and military organizations. Ashburn is charged with Terroristic Threats (Felony).

The investigation revealed that Ashburn allegedly sent numerous messages via email, social media, and public portals, threatening to detonate bombs and cause physical harm. These threats were distributed to an alarming 62 separate agencies, encompassing local, state, and federal law enforcement, as well as multiple branches of the United States military.

Detectives conducted a thorough investigation, successfully identifying Ashburn as the individual responsible for the threatening communications. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Glynn County Police Department Headquarters for an interview before being booked into the Glynn County Detention Center.

In Georgia, a felony terroristic threat can carry a punishment of imprisonment for not less than one nor more than ten years, or both, especially if the threat suggests the death of the threatened individual or involves acts of violence or hazardous substances.
