Barrow County’s Jud Smith Named 2025 Georgia Sheriff of the Year

Sheriff Jud Smith of the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office has been named the 2025 Sheriff of the Year by the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association.

The award will be formally presented at the GSA Summer Conference on August 6. According to the association, Sheriff Smith was selected for his dedication to public safety, strong leadership, and ongoing efforts to build trust within the community he serves.

Sheriff Smith has led the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office with a focus on crime prevention, community engagement, and effective policing strategies. His work has had a notable impact both locally and across the state.

He will be joined at the August ceremony by his wife, Stephanie, and children, Conyer and Addison, along with his colleagues from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.
