75-Year-Old Toccoa Man Arrested for Fentanyl Trafficking After Home Raided

A 75-year-old Toccoa man is facing multiple drug trafficking charges after authorities executed a search warrant at his Foster Street residence Thursday evening, May 29, 2025.
According to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), members of the Crime Suppression Unit (CSU), along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) Task Force and the Toccoa Police Department, carried out the search around 5:12 p.m.
The investigation began after the SCSO Criminal Investigations Division received a tip alleging that Kenneth Jerry McConnell was involved in illegal drug activity. Based on gathered evidence, a search warrant was issued for McConnell’s home.
During the search, officers reportedly discovered:
- Approximately 197 various prescription pills, including suspected oxycodone and clonazepam
- Over 4.5 grams of suspected fentanyl
- $22,900 in cash
- Four vehicles, which were seized from the property
McConnell was transported to a local hospital due to breathing difficulties encountered during the operation.
He is facing the following charges:
- Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
- Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance
- Four counts of Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
- Four counts of Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
- Trafficking of Fentanyl
- Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute
- Tampering with Evidence
