Atrium Health Navicent Hospitals Earn Platinum Recognition for Organ Donation Efforts

Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center and Atrium Health Navicent Peach have received Platinum level recognition for their efforts in promoting organ, eye, and tissue donor registrations across Georgia through the 2023–2024 DoNation Campaign.

The DoNation Campaign, conducted in collaboration with LifeLink® of Georgia and Donate Life Georgia, honors hospitals that actively raise awareness and increase donor registrations through educational events, community outreach, and media efforts. The recognition covers the campaign period from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024.

Atrium Health Navicent hospitals were among 88 hospital partners participating within the LifeLink service area. Their efforts included flag raisings, ceremonial honor walks, donor registration tabling events, social media outreach, Donate Life spirit week activities, and other community engagement initiatives. These activities led to an increase in registrations on the Donate Life Georgia donor registry.

“Becoming a registered organ donor is a simple step that may one day save someone’s life,” said Dr. Patrice Walker, Chief Medical Officer at Atrium Health Navicent. “Nationally, over 103,000 individuals are waiting for a lifesaving transplant and more than 3,000 of those individuals live in Georgia. Almost anyone can become an organ and tissue donor. If you’ve not taken this step, we encourage you to do so.”

According to national statistics, 17 people die each day in the United States waiting for an organ transplant, and every 9 minutes, a new name is added to the transplant waiting list.

Observed every April, National Donate Life Month raises awareness about the lifesaving impact of organ, eye, and tissue donation. Georgians can register as donors when applying for a driver’s license, purchasing a hunting or fishing license, or by visiting www.DonateLifeGeorgia.org.
