Lanier Regional Drug Task Force Bust Leads to Three Arrests, Meth and Firearms Seized in Dawsonville

A search warrant executed last week by the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force, comprised of officers from Dawson, Forsyth, Milton, and Johns Creek, resulted in three arrests and the seizure of methamphetamine, THC wax, firearms, and cash.
The investigation, spanning several months, focused on James “Guy” Sanders, who was suspected of selling large quantities of methamphetamine from a residence at 153 Dawson Forest Road in Dawsonville. A controlled buy from Sanders led to the issuance of the search warrant.
During the search of the residence, task force officers recovered 125 grams of methamphetamine and THC wax. They also found materials indicative of drug distribution, including numerous baggies, digital scales, and smoking devices. Several firearms located in the home were seized, along with over $700 in cash.
While clearing the residence, authorities located Tia Grindle, who was wanted on outstanding warrants out of Lumpkin County, and took her into custody.
As a result of the operation:
- James “Guy” Sanders was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.
- Kay Sanders was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of Schedule I THC.
- Tia Grindle was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of Schedule I THC, possession of drug-related objects, and the outstanding warrants.
Sheriff Jeff Johnson praised the efforts of the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force, stating, “It’s an honor to be part of the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force, and we’re proud of the work these officers are doing to help keep our communities safe.”
