On March 21, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office became aware of allegations involving Lt. Taffar. Following a preliminary internal review, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested on March 25, 2025, to conduct an external investigation. At that time, Lt. Taffar was placed on administrative leave.
As a result of the GBI’s investigation, warrants were obtained for Lt. Taffar for Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Violation of Oath by a Public Officer.
