Columbus Police Renew Call for Information in 2024 Murder at After-Prom Party

The Columbus Police Department is again asking for the public’s help in solving the shooting death of 17-year-old Bryson Cochran, which occurred on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
At approximately 12:32 a.m. on that date, officers responded to a shooting in the 2900 block of Tip Top Drive and found Bryson Cochran lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene at 1:23 a.m.
The CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit has been investigating the case, which occurred during an after-prom party for Central High School attended by nearly 100 people. Despite the large number of potential witnesses, many claimed they did not see the shooting.
Now, one year later, investigators are still seeking answers to bring justice to Bryson Cochran and closure to his family. The Columbus Police Department urges anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Corporal Jared Berger at 706-225-4325 or via email at [email address removed]. A cash reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest, including $5,000 contributed by Bryson Cochran’s family.
