Mother In Macon Arrested for Reckless Abandonment After Newborn Found in Trash Bag on Back Porch

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Investigators have arrested 22-year-old Alaynah Marie Rappuhn in connection with the reckless abandonment of her newborn child.
The incident unfolded on March 31, 2025, after Rappuhn was taken to Piedmont Macon Emergency Room for excessive bleeding. Investigators learned that Rappuhn’s boyfriend noticed her condition at their residence in the 1300 block of Payton Street. Before leaving for the hospital, Rappuhn placed a trash bag on the back porch.
Upon returning home to gather belongings after taking Rappuhn to the hospital, the boyfriend heard a noise coming from the trash bag. Inside, he discovered Rappuhn’s newborn infant wrapped in towels. The baby was immediately transported to the hospital.
The investigation revealed that Rappuhn had given birth to the male infant after 4:30 a.m. that morning. She then wrapped the child in towels and placed him inside the trash bag, leaving it on the back porch for several hours before going to the hospital. Rappuhn reportedly did not inform her boyfriend about the pregnancy or the birth, nor did she notify hospital staff about the child upon her arrival for medical treatment.
Alaynah Marie Rappuhn was taken into custody on April 1, 2025, after her release from the hospital. She has been charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony Murder, Reckless Abandonment of a Child, and First-Degree Cruelty to Children. Her bond has been denied.
Medical staff reported that the infant is in critical but stable condition.
