Fatal Head-On Collision Under Investigation in Macon-Bibb County

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred on Mercer University Drive near Grosso Avenue on March 20, 2025, at approximately 5:09 a.m.

A Dodge Durango and a Hyundai Elantra were involved in the collision, which occurred east of Edwards Avenue.

The Dodge Durango was driven by a 51-year-old male. The Hyundai Elantra was occupied by 37-year-old Javaughn Raheen Hackney (driver), a 29-year-old female passenger, and a 9-year-old male passenger.

All occupants were transported to Atrium Navicent Health for treatment. Javaughn Raheen Hackney succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the medical facility. Next of kin has been notified. The other occupants are in critical but stable condition.
